Carlisle Airport Show : May 2008

Hot off the press and taking advantage of my new mobile broadband connection, here are the photos from today's show!

This year almost all of the show was held on the old runway, rather than on the grass. It was a busy and well attended show.

The weekend started on Saturday with cabaret entertainment 'Lemon Grass' in the marquee. However, Grant provided the biggest laugh as we watched his chair sink in the mud, not once, not twice....but five times in all!

Photos show club cars in attendance....

Neil McGarva's Mustang (up for sale!)

James Bigham's Dolly

Alan and Ally Drysdales' Standard 10

Grant and Julie Hollis' Toledo

Terry Lloyd's P6 Rover

John Harvey's P6 Rover

Thank you to the organisers for another excellent show!

Drive It Day - April 20th 2008

Our Drive It Day 2008 excursion took us from Gretna to Mosspaul following the A7.
Drive It Day encourages all older cars on to the roads for a day of celebratory touring!

Run to Ken Bridge Hotel for Lunch!

Here we are - 2008 - first event for the Spinning Wheelers!

We travelled from Dumfries in the east and Newton Stewart in the west, meeting at 1pm at New Galloway for a superb carvery meal at the Ken Bridge Hotel.

Meeting at Dumfries were (left to right) Terry Lloyd, Julie & Grant Hollis, Derek & Doreen Scott, Neil McGarva and Ken & Pat James.

The run took us from Dumfries, through Cargenbridge, Beeswing, Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas and up the A713 to New Galloway. The west left Newton Stewart and headed along the Queen's Way to New Galloway.
At the Ken Bridge Hotel we met up with the friendly folk of the Wigtownshire Yesteryear Transport & Machinery Club. 30 of us took over the main dining room!

From the west came (left to right) Robert Edmonds, Lance Edmonds,
Graham Edmonds and Eileen Edmonds (seated with her back to the camera).
Missing from the picture is Angélique Edmonds.

Grant and Neil were told to be cheerful!!

International Triumph Show 2008 - NAC, Warwickshire

Just back from sunny Stoneleigh with arms full of Toledo bits and bobs and a few shaky photos to share! My apologies for the photos; my camera packed in and I was relying on the wonders of Nokia!

The cars in these pictures belong to show visitors who get to park them free of charge in two huge sheds next to the main exhibition halls.

TR5

Not sure about the paint job on the Dolly!

Lovely red Spitfire.
We didn't know what this was! Or even if it was Triumph based.
It is a Peerless. See this link for details!

Filling two sheds the Triumph range was fully represented, although the really early cars were on show in the main halls.

Herald Saloon

Our next SWMC event is the Ken Bridge Run on February 24th. Contact Julie for start place/times and to book a table for a carvery lunch at the Ken Bridge Hotel
